Bernard Chin

President

Having graduated from MIT with a BS in Management and MS in Electrical Engineering, and earning an MBA from University of Chicago, Bernard Chin is the Head of Fixed income sales at ING Wholesale Banking since July 2013.

He was previously the Executive Director of UBS where he was running sales, trading and technology for 13 years long in New York, Chicago, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He is currently a board member of Asian Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA) and promotes development of liquidity, funding, and repo & securities lending markets in Asia.

He is also co-founder of custom sports car manufacturer BC Racing LLP in Singapore.

Gerard Lim

Vice-president

Mr Gerard Lim is a pioneer member of WFS. He is a full time coach and operates a training facility, supporting local athlete development. Gerard’s team has produced national athletes for Wrestling, Judo and Sambo, with consistent successes at the Southeast Asian Games.

In addition to coaching, and developing and implementing sustainable grappling programmes for local schools, Gerard is also actively involved in competition organising and management, providing technical support and expertise at regional and international events.

Gerard serves as the Vice-President of the WFS and is in charge of the Sambo division of our federation. As the Principal instructor at JAGSPORT, a Judo, Wrestling & Sambo school that has been operating for more than 20 years, Gerard has coached many School, National and Regional champions in the various martial art disciplines.

Mervyn Cheong

Honorary Secretary

Mervyn graduated from the National University of Singapore, Law School, in 2008 and has since devoted much of his legal career in disputes resolution, dealing with a variety of areas including commercial law, company law, insolvency law, criminal law, white collar crime, employment law and intellectual property law.

He also obtained the Specialist Certificate in Intangible Asset Management from IPOS International in September 2019.

Mervyn was also an adjunct instructor with the National University of Singapore, Law School, teaching in the school’s Legal Skills Programme, from July 2016 to July 2019.

Leonard Kong

Treasurer

Leonard Arthur Kong Pin Cheong is a Senior Operations Manager with Certis Aviation Security. He is the Senior Officer Commanding for Terminal 1 & 2 and leads various other security teams at Changi Airport Singapore.

He has worked in a large variety of roles with a career in Asset Management with Schroders Investment Management, before leaving to be one of the co-founders and owners of Innervate Fitness, a CrossFit gym and social enterprise.

He was one of the pioneer members of the Singapore Wrestling Team and clinched the first Gold Medal for the Singapore Wrestling Team at the Pre-SEA Games Wrestling Championships, Myanmar in 2013 and represented Singapore at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines. He still serves as Treasurer for the Wrestling Federation of Singapore.

Melissa Soo

Assistant Treasurer

A 360-degree integrated marketing professional, Melissa Soo has consistently worked her magic in local & international industries for both traditional & digital platforms. Her career has been built across the retail, technology and entertainment industries with iconic brands. These include agency roles for Samsung Singapore, AsiaMalls and Sentosa; and corporate roles with Harvey Norman, nübox and Zouk Singapore.

She was one of the pioneers for ONE Championship Global Marketing Team who spearheaded all marketing efforts in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and Macau.

Melissa is currently the Head of Marketing for CapBridge Financial, a Singapore-based fintech company that helps companies and investors unlock value via a uniquely integrated primary syndication and secondary trading approach.

Dr Patrick Liew

Dr Patrick Liew, PhD, MBA, MSc, BSc is the Managing Partner of Global Enterprise Exchange and also the founder and head of HSR Global Ltd, a publicly-listed company on Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX).

He is also a founder of Success Resources, Asia’s largest seminar organiser and a major shareholder of an Australia Stock E-change company. Dr Liew has also established an e-learning company which was rated by Deloitte and Touche as the 11th fastest growing tech company.

He has also held the regional director position at the Gartner Group, providing strategic advisory and planning services to governments, banks and MNCs. He was also the regional head of sales and marketing operation for Dow Jones Telerate.

Jimmy Taenaka

An American citizen with a Singaporean family, Mr James Taenaka, better known as "Jimmy T", is a frequent face on Singapore TV as an actor, show host & a regular TV personality.

He is also an accomplished sportsman having placed first in the US National JR Judo Championships, third in the California State Wrestling Championships and competed in the US National Wrestling Championships.

He is one of the founders of the Wrestling Federation of Singapore and had even competed in our National Open Championship at the age of 50.

Aaron Koh

Aaron was a former member of the Singapore wrestling team. A personal student under 2x Olympic gold medallist Mr Sergey Beloglazov, he has achieved various accolades within the region and won a bronze medal at the 2011 SEA Games.

Aaron also previously served as the federation’s secretary and treasurer. He now represents the Athlete’s Commission. With the aim of nurturing young wrestlers for the nation and introducing the sport to the masses, he founded the Honey Badgers Wrestling Club. Some of his wrestlers are currently in the national developmental squad.

Professionally, Aaron heads the Physical Education Department in a local primary school. He has a strong background in pedagogy as well as in the areas of developmental psychology.
